Dunguib is the star turn on a day of high class action at Leopardstown on Sunday where four grade one races form the centre pieces of an eight race card. Philip Fentons 7-y-o should make short work of the opposition here with Whodoyouthink the possible eachway angle at a tempting 10/1. Provided he does not get into a battle for the lead with Saludos, Oliver McKiernans horse can make the frame.
The action kicks off at 1.05 with the Spring Juvenile Hurdle in which Pittoni should prove too strong for fair yardstick Cross Appeal. The pecking order amongst the Irish juveniles will be alot clearer after this contest as the latter ran in Leopardstowns grade one over Christmas finishing a respectable fourth.
The most competitive of the grade one races is the Novice Chase at 2.40 in which Roberto Goldback, Weapons Amnesty and Zaarito do battle. The former is arguably the best of the trio but over this trip slight preference is for the first named. Jessie Harringtons charge was a high class novice at his best and beat Weapons Amnesty in a grade 2 novice hurdle over course and distance last season.
Cooldine is by far the classiest horse in the featured Hennessy Gold Cup(3.45) and provided he is now at peak fitness after a disappointing reappearance the Willie Mullins trained 8-y-o can strengthen his position in the antepost Gold Cup betting. He is arguably the third best horse in the Cheltenham race and may be worth an eachway or “without” the big two bet for the Gold Cup before tomorrows race.
Agus A Vic is a standing dish in the Hunter Chase at this meeting and can make it three in a row in this years event(4.20). Steviemac may have just needed the outing on his latest start in the MCR Hurdle after the holdup with the weather and he is worth an eachway bet at around 7/1-8/1 in a wide open handicap hurdle at 3.10.
