The 2008 Footballer of the year is unlikely to start against Cork but is almost certain to be among the subs.
“He certainly would be in the reckoning somewhere for the Cork game,” said Tyrone manager Mickey Harte.
Brian Dooher and Stephen O’Neill are still some way off fitness which is a major blow for team.Dooher will sit out at least one more game, while O’Neill, who picked up a dislocated elbow in the pre-season Dr McKenna Cup, will play no part in the next three games.
“He’ll not be here until the end of the month at all, for the month of March he won’t be available,” said Harte.
Cavanagh has not played for Tyrone since coming on as a substitute against Cork in last year’s All-Ireland semi-final.
Tyrone are in serious danger of relegation to Division 2 after losing their opening three games.Harte has insisted that his team can avoid the drop but another defeat this weekend will leave the Red Hands odds-on to be playing in Division 2 next season.
