Carlow man Bernard is a former Connaught, Leinster, Sale and Irish Hooker who won 9 caps for Ireland. In an Illustrious rugby career Bernard won the Challenge cup with Sale as well as the Magners league and Heineken cup with Leinster. Since retiring as a player Bernard has turned his hand to coaching and is director of rugby at Clontarf, he also released his autobiography “Blue Blood” which is a fascinating insight to life as a profession rugby player.
