Invite for amateur boxing clubs to attend tournament in Spain (9 to 13 September 2015)

Gerry Storey of course has long been a legend of Irish boxing,male and female and winner of the leading sports honour the Laureus Prize, one of the most prestigious of all honours.
Today though we have news of another member of the famous Belfast boxing family.
Former Irish Olympian Sam Storey, in association with the Spanish Boxing Federation, are inviting amateur clubs from Ireland, the UK and Europe to take part in a Multi-Nation Club Tournament in Totana, Murcia, Spain from  9 to13 September 2015.

Totana is approximately a 1 hour drive from Alicante airport. Courtesy buses will transfer all clubs to and from Alicante airport on arrival and departure dates.
The all inclusive total cost per boxer /coach / official is 400 Euros for accommodation, food and entry fees. ( Approximately £285 sterling at the current exchange rate.)
The  400 Euros  price is based on two people sharing a twin room at a fabulous 4 star hotel in the Sierra Espuna mountain range and includes a full board meal plan. ( Single occupancy rooms are available at an additional cost.)
Courtesy shuttle buses will transport all boxers, coaches and officials to and from the hotel to the venue, a 10 minute journey.
Clubs can also avail of Sam Storey’s boxing gym for training during their stay which is located close to the tournament venue. See link to Sam’s website below.
The 3 day tournament will be conducted in accordance with the AIBA rules and as such will take the following format:
Day 1 – Quarter finals
Day 2 – Semi finals
Day 3 – Finals

The weight categories are as follows:
Male 52/56/60/64/69/75/81/91 kilos
Female 50/56/60 kilos (there may be an extra female weight category added, the Spanish Federation is currently deciding on this).
The tournament is only open to amateur boxers born in 1997 and 1998 who have competed in a minimum of 5 amateur bouts.


Be sure to make this information available via social media to all your friends in any European countries who have potential entrants for this tournament as long as the young men and women were born in  1997 and/or 1998.

    We are shildon boxing club and we are looking to take a team to spain in the new year to compete we have in excess of 20 boxers from novice juniors to open seniors are they any clubs you can put us in contact with? I’d appreciate any info. Yours Steve (Shildon abc )
