Katie Taylor will defend her world titles against IBF challenger Kimberley Connor on the 28th of July at London’s 02 Arena.
The Bray woman will put her IBF and WBA belts on the line as she takes on the 37 year old American who has an impressive record with 13 wins from 16 fights. The fight will be on the undercard of English heavyweight Dylan White and New Zealand’s Joseph Parker which is the main event on the night. Taylor has fought nine times in professional ranks now winning them all quite easily, she picked up her first belt which was the WBA, in just her seventh fight beating Anahi Esther Sanchez in Cardiff in October 2017. She followed that up with the IBF belt in April this year recording an unanimous decision win over Victoria Bustos in Brooklyn.
Taylor’s opponent for the upcoming bout has previously come up against Bustos, however she was beaten on points on that occasion. She also lost a title fight in 2011, as she was beaten by Amanda Serrano in a super-featherweight fight. The American also won her last bout against Jasmine Clarkson in a fight that lasted just three rounds.
It promises to be another thrilling night for Irish boxing fans in a fight that is sure to be broadcast on Sky Sports.
