Bertram Allen and Christy Jnr won the Longines Speed Challenge in Hong Kong on Saturday night, making it a second victory in the event for the Irishman.
The Wexford rider set a time of 60.47 seconds which proved far too quick for his competitors as France’s Patrice Delaveau and Vestale de Mazure HDC were next best in 62.88 seconds, with another French rider Kevin Staut and Ayade de Septon Et Hdc third in 62.94 seconds.
“I like to smile when I ride well,” said Allen. ‘I’m delighted and my horse ran superbly. The people here in Hong Kong really love it. They really enjoy their time and watching the horses. I love it.”
Bertram Allen was also victorious in Saturday evening’s Six Bar competition in Hong Kong with Izzy By Picobello.
