Shane Breen and the 13-year-old stalllion Golden Hawk made a winning start to the indoor Showjumping campaign by winning the top prize in Friday’s 1m50 five-star speed class in Oslo.
The Tipperary native and Golden Hawk produced the fastest clear round in 65.09 seconds to take home the winner’s cheque for just over €6,500. Breen was also among the prizes in the Puissance later in the day when finishing third with the 8-year-old stallion Colmar.
On Sunday, Oslo hosts the opening leg of the 2018-2019 Longines FEI World Cup. Shane Breen is joined in the Norwegian capital by fellow Irish riders Denis Lynch, Michael Duffy and Darragh Kenny.
The Oslo leg of the World Cup is followed by further legs in Helsinki and Verona this month before Lyon, Stuttgart and Madrid in November, with the competition culminating in the Longines FEI World Cup Final in Gothenburg next April.
