We have live score commentary from Fermanagh vs Down in the Ulster Senor football championship Quarter Final, Brewster Park, 3:30pm
Fermanagh experienced a relatively good league campaign in Division 4 that ended with disappointment after a comprehensive defeat to Wicklow in the final.
This coupled with Wicklow’s defeat to a supposedly crisis-ridden Meath side last week means that confidence may not be too high on Erneside.
Peter Canavan must also contend with the loss of team captain, Ryan McCluskey due to a facial injury and his team’s over-reliance on Seamus Quigley if his side are to overcome Down.
“A difficult game? That would be an understatement”, said Canavan.
“You’re looking at Division 1 against Division 4, a side (Down) that contested an All-Ireland final a few years ago. We know what wr’re up against and realise that Down have to have an off day and we must play extremely well if we’re going to beat them.”
Down have both good and bad news on the injury front. The bad news is that Benny Coulter, Dan Gordon and Niall McParland will all miss the trip to Enniskillen. The good news is that Liam Doyle and Danny Hughes have been passed fit and will line out for the Mourne County.
Down should be too good for Fermanagh but the trip to Erneside is not a formality with the home side a tough nut to crack in Brewster Park.
