The former All Star has not played for Westmeath this year due to commitments with his club Garrycastle with whom he helped win a Leinster title and eventually to an All Ireland final replay.
He will now follow county goalkeeper Gary Connaughton to Boston for a summer stateside. He will jet off in early July and plans to play football for the Donegal club in the city. “I’m just going for a break really. I’m going to spend some time over there,” he has told the media.
He will turn 34 next summer and has said that he would like “one more year” with the inter-county setup, whilst also stating “I will be back in Westmeath in time for school in September and the start of Garrycastle’s club championship campaign.”
