Wexford destroy Offaly in camogie semi-final

Wexford cruised into the All-Ireland senior camogie final following their demolition of Offaly in the second semi-final on Saturday in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny.

This game never sparked into life, with the Leinster ladies simply far too superior for an Offaly team who have improved immensely throughout this year’s championship.

The final score-line read 3-14 to 0-5, with Wexford’s Kate Kelly able to afford to point a late penalty for her side. This group of girls will take some beating in this year’s final, with their opposition Cork having to produce their best performance all year in order to take the title.

Offaly trailed 0-6 to 0-1 after just 12 minutes, with Wexford forward Ursula Jacob superb for her side. Una Leacy suffered an injury early in the game, and this seemed to stall her side’s momentum for a spell.

Offaly couldn’t offer much of a challenge, with points from Elaine Dermody and Michaela Morkam mere consolation scores against a sheer rampant Wexford side.

To their credit, however, Offaly battled gamely until the final whistle. Katrina Parrock impressed in the Wexford full-forward line, finishing with a tally of 2-2, with Kelly pointing from a penalty in the dying minutes to still keep their dream of a three-in-a-row alive.
