Joe Canning could be set to make his return to the Galway side for Sunday week’s crucial Allianz National Hurling League clash with Waterford.
The star forward has been sidelined with a knee injury, but played for his club Portumua on Saturday, and appears to have come through the game without any problems. The game in the Galway League also saw the return to action of Shane Kavanagh and Damien Hayes. Those two players also successfully came through their reappearances unscathed.
The trio were involved in the county’s training session on Monday night and depending on their progress over the coming week, could all be in line for selection a week on Sunday. It is a vital game for the tribesmen, having lost heavily to Tipperary last Sunday. A win over Waterford would almost certainly prove enough to see them reach the league decider.
