All Ireland U21 Hurling Preview – Dublin v Galway, Throw in 6pm, Saturday, Thurles

Galway and Dublin travel to Semple Stadium,Thurles on Saturday for a 5pm All Ireland U21 Hurling semi final. The winner of the game will set up a 10th of September All Ireland Final with Waterford or Antrim.

This game between two teams, Galway a great traditional hurling county and Dublin where hurling is on the up every year should be a mouth watering tie. Galway are coming into the game as an unknown quantity of some respect as they have yet to play in U21 Championship, however they will certainly be up for the game and will be looking to prove a point after the senior side were defeated in the semi final to Tipperary.

Dublin have had an excellent U21 campaign so far. They opened their season with an excellent away win to Wexford and were far stronger than the three in a row champions. Joe Fortunes side seen off a gallant Westmeath display in the semi final stage of Leinster, before defeating Offaly in the Leinster final to set up this intriguing encounter with the men from the West.

Galway, as already stated have yet to a have a game in the U21 championship but they have some talented forwards that were in action against Tipperary in the senior semi final. Conor Whelan is an outstanding talent and will cause the Dublin defence a lot of trouble if he gets the right ball. Galway have also Brian Molloy in attack and he is very dangerous forward.

To Dublin, they also have some senior stars in their side. Cian O’Donnell has been brilliant in the full back line for both senior and U21 sides. In addition to this Dublin have Cian Boland who is also part of the senior Dublin side and man of the match in the Leinster Final Sean Treacy has a keen eye for goal when he gets the ball.

When giving a prediction this is quite hard to call as Galway have yet to play in the championship. It will ultimately come down to who is hungriest side on the day. Whoever that is be I am not sure, but one thing is for sure the game is live on Tg4 with a 6pm throw in, while viewers can tweet in their choice for man of the match with the hashtag #LaochBGE for a chance to win a county jersey of their choice.
