Dublin footballer Diarmuid Connolly could be facing a suspension following an incident during Sunday’s O’Byrne Cup semi-final defeat to Kildare.
Television footage appears to show the forward making contact with Kildare’s Ciaran Fitzpatrick as the latter lay on the ground.
While the incident was not spotted by the referee, Connolly was handed a red card for his clash with James Kavanagh just moments later. The GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee could now decide to take action over the matter.
Connolly appeared to knee Fitzpatrick and if that is proven then the CCCC could decide to suspend to the St Vincent’s player.
The offence carries an eight-week ban which would rule Connolly out of much of the Allianz National Football League.
