Anthony Daly believes his Dublin hurlers may not have gone into Sunday’s league semi final against Tipperary in the right frame of mind.
The Allianz Hurling League Division 1B champions suffered a heavy 15-point defeat, but the former Clare captain feels his men may have already settled for promotion and didn’t have their sights set fully on the final. Dublin are 40/1 to win the All Ireland Hurling championships, click here to bet
“Whether fellas somewhere mentally relaxed in the back of their mind after getting the promotion, and a lot of talk about a free match,” he told the Irish Daily Star.
“Maybe we were all guilty of that but I thought, a free match, come and have a real go, but we didn’t seem to have that go. Back to the drawing board I suppose, a few questions raised about the team and the performance – we’ll drive on anyway.
“That’s all we can do now. If you give Tipp three or four yards, going out to the ball, Tipp will punish you, no better team to punish you. I still think there’s more to it than Division 1 and Division 2. Fellas will all be telling you tomorrow that’s the difference.”
