Dublin v Kerry, Saturday, 7pm, Tralee , Live on RTE
Dublin will make the journey to Tralee to take on Peter Keane’s Kerry in what should be a thrilling encounter in my opinion. Peter Keane and his players will be looking to maintain their 100% unbeaten record this campaign with 2 wins from 2 so far, the Kingdom have beaten Tyrone and Cavan to date.
The game is already sold out so anyone looking for tickets now will not be able to get in obviously. Peter Keane’s men will know this game against the Dubs will be a step from the two previous games and I expect both sides to start very strong teams to lay down a marker. They have quality players with the likes of Paul Geaney and Sean O’Shea, while the likes of Adrian Spillane and Killian Spillane are also top players and of course related to Pat Spillane Kerry football legend. Peter Crowley and Paul Murphy in defence are very solid but they will find it tough against a strong Dublin forward line.
Looking at Jim Gavin’s they easily brushed aside the challenge of Galway without playing that well they still won by 11 points. Once again the side is very strong and experienced, players like Jonny Cooper, Michael Dara McAuley, James McCarthy. In the forward I expect Cormac Costello to once again to picked at centre forward after a massive display against Galway, while regulars Paul Mannion and Dean Rock will cause massive problems if the Kerry defence are showing any weakness at all.
The odds have Dublin as 1/2 favourites, while Kerry are 2/1 and the draw is 15/2 which looks a good bet in my opinion.
