Dublin v Waterford, Sunday, 2pm, Parnell Park
A very crucial game this for either side. A win for either side will probably put them in the hunt for promotion a loss however would put a massive dent in it. It will be a big two weeks for Waterford as they face Galway in their final league game.
Dublin have played three games to date winning 2 and losing 1. The two wins came against Offaly and Laois, while the loss came at the hands of Galway last weekend by 0-20 to 1-11. Mattie Kenny will be looking for an improved performance here again if they are to have any chance of beating Pauric Fanning’s in form Waterford. Waterford have played 3 games and won 3 games against Offaly, Carlow and Laois. They won all three games comprehensively. I expect a much closer game here.
Dublin will look to players like Eoghan O’Donnell at full back, Cian O’Callaghan at corner back and Chris Crummy at wing back for leadership. Darragh O’Connell and Rian McBride is an exciting midfield partnership and I expect this to continue on Sunday. In attack Eamonn Dillion, Danny Sutcliffe and David Treacy will all be key players if the Dubs are to get something out of this game in my opinion. I expect a big performance from them. Waterford will look to Noel Connors, Austin Gleeson and Jamie Barron to lead while the brothers Stephen and Shane Bennett will be expected to do the damage up front.
Team news not available as of yet
The odds are pretty close but Waterford are favourites at 4/7 and Dublin are 7/4 and the draw is 9/1. I expect Waterford to win this by 2 or 3 points here.
