It is All-Ireland Hurling Final week so with that in mind I have come up with 5 selections which you should consider for the man of the match award. Most people do have a little flutter on this market on All-Ireland day so let’s take you through my five selections below.
- Seamus Callanan (Tipperary) – The Drom and Inch man is a player who has won the man of the match award before against Kilkenny in 2016 when he pointed 0-09 from and 4 frees. Another repeat performance of that would surely see him pick up the award as well as Tipperary going on to win the All-Ireland in my opinion. He is 7/1 at present.
2. TJ Reid (Kilkenny) – What can be said about this man that hasn’t been said before. He is an exceptional talent. He has already picked up a couple of man of the match awards this season. Reid is guaranteed to notch up a fair few frees and is also capable of coming up with a goal and a few points from. If Kilkenny are to win he will need to be at his best once again. He is 11/2 and favourite for the award.
3. Padraic Maher (Tipperary) – Maher just simply has to be on the list because when Maher plays well which is most of the time in fairness, Tipperary don’t be to far away. He is surely on his way to another all-star award as well. The Thurles man is also not shy to picking up a couple of man of the match awards and at 14/1 he is a massive value.
4. Adrian Mullen (Kilkenny) – The Ballyhale man has been absolutely superb in his first season in the senior side. He has notched up big totals as well in games from play with 0-04 coming against Limerick in the All-Ireland semi-final. He can do the same here again and at 16/1 he also represents value at high odds.
5 John McGrath (Tipperary) – Has been somewhat quiet this season but a big performance is brewing will Sunday be it? Who knows. The Loughmore man can put on a big show on the big day, in the 2016 final he registered 1-03 against the same opposition. At 14/1 he also is also value as he is due a big performance from Liam Sheedy.
