GAA results – Sligo beat a brave New York in the Connacht Championship

Sligo came from behind to beat a very brave New York team in the Bronx this evening in the opening match of the 2017 Connacht football championship.

New York 1-13 Sligo 1-21

Kyle Cawley scored a goal with five minutes to play which secured victory for The Yeats county, but they were trailing by a point after 50min when Eugene McVery scored a goal for New York.

Stephen Coen and Adrian Marren had great games for Sligo and kept them in the game when New Yorks Danny Sutcliff was getting on top.

Sligo will now play Mayo in two weeks time in what will be a massive challenge but one the Niall Carew will be looking forward to playing.
