Video highlights – Kerry maintain unbeaten run with win over Galway

Galway 1-10 Kerry 0-14

Kerry maintained their unbeaten start to the league campaign with four wins from four after a narrow one-point win over Galway at Tuam Stadium on Sunday.

There was no score for five minutes as both sides were feeling each other out. The first score came from Galway man Antaine Ó Laoí. Kerry looked the better side though from when Sean O’Shea pointed on 8 minutes from play, he kicked a 45 then to give the Kingdom the lead. Barry McHugh pointed a free on 13 minutes after Ó Laoí was fouled. Kerry corner forward Stephen O’Brien was black carded following a tussle with Eoghan Kerrin on 18 minutes, it could have been far worse for Peter Keane’s men though if Sean Kelly hadn’t blazed wide a great chance to raise a green flag just after that. Mick Daly pointed on 26 minutes. Kerry bossed the final 10 minutes off the half or so though, they kicked five points in a row, O’Shea, Moynihan, O’Brien, Shane Enright and then Stephen O’Brien all raising white flags to give the Kingdom 0-08 to 0-03 at half time.

Galway had the wind advantage in the second half and it didn’t take them long to use this advantage. Shane Walsh scored a nice point, however, he kicked two wides in quick succession. Gavin O’Brien was then on target for Kerry before McHugh tapped over for Galway. Galway indeed kicked the 3 of 4 points.

Michael Geaney pointed before Padraig Cunningham did likewise for Galway. Kerry now only by two points, but Danny Cummins netted on 65 minutes to give Galway a 1 point lead. Galway’s Thomas Flynn received a black card for hauling down a Kerry attacker in the next play of the game, and the Kingdom made their numerical advantage count as  Sean O’Shea landed a nice free on 57 minutes before O’Se and O’Sullivan kicked the match-winning scores.

Sean O’Shea was, once again, the star performer for the Kingdom.
