Mayo v Roscommon, 7pm, Saturday, Castlebar
James Horan’s Mayo will entertain Roscommon on Saturday evening in Castlebar. Mayo will be looking for a strong start to their 2019 campaign but as we all know they are something bigger in 2019. Horan guided them to two All-Ireland Finals in a row, losing both narrowly. I suspect he is back to win that All-Ireland for Mayo.
Looking at the game itself. Roscommon under new boss Anthony Cunningham will be coming into the game high in confidence after beating Galway in the Connacht senior league final last weekend. Mayo, on the the other hand will be looking to take each game as it comes and of course aim to in Division 1 as they don’t tend to take the league that serious in terms of winning it.
Horan will be given 2 players their Mayo Senior debuts on Saturday night with Brian Reape from the Moy Davitts club selected at full forward, also the second debutant will be Conor Diskin from the Claremorris club he is selected at corner forward. The half back line is very strong to be fair with Patrick Durcan, Lee Keegan and Colm Boyle all selected to start, that is a very attacking set up. Jason Doherty and Aidan O’Shea will provide experience in the forwards.

Mayo are 1/3 favourites to win this game. Roscommon are priced as 3/1 with the draw at a nice looking 8/1. The market I would bet on here is the winning margin betting of Mayo to win by 4-6 points at 10/3. If you fancy a goalscorer bet try the newcomer Brian Reape at 8/1 to get the first goal.
