Monaghan v Galway, Sunday, 2pm, Iniskeen
Galway will make the journey to Monaghan for this Division 1 league tie between the sides which will be played at the unfamiliar surroundings of Iniskeen on Sunday at 2pm. Monaghan have 1 win, 1 loss from their two games, beating Dublin, before losing to Roscommon. Their opponents, Galway, have also 1 win and 1 loss, beating Cavan on the opening weekend, before been hammered by Dublin last weekend.
Monaghan have home advantage here and that counts for a lot in tough games to call. They will once again look to the talents of Conor McManus, Jack McCarron and Stephen O’Hanlon in attack. In defence Colin Walsh and Vinny Corey at strength and experience. Galway will look to the likes of Shane Walsh in attack, while Gary O’Donnell and Johnny Heaney in defence are key and they bring experience to Kevin Walsh’s side. A win here for either side would be vital as they would rise up the table further to potentialy challenge table toppers Kerry for a a league final final in the coming months. However, as we all know the table will chop and change every week.
Looking at the betting for this game Monaghan are 8/15 favourites and Galway are nicely priced at 15/8. Which to me is a fantastic price. However, I think Monaghan will nick the game in the end by a couple of points, 2 or 3.
