Roscommon GAA chairman Seamus Sweeney has all the staff who worked around the clock to ensure that Dr Hyde Park would host the 2018 Connacht SFC final versus Galway.
Roscommon easily beat Galway in 2017 final in Pearse Stadium so fans will be hoping that home advantage can help as it seems Galway have improved a lot over the last 12 months. The Rossies have not had a home championship game since 2015.
“Anyone who was in Dr Hyde Park for the under-20 game on Saturday evening will have seen that a lot of preparatory work is either completed or well underway,” said Sweeney.
“That demonstrates the commitment that the people of this county have shown to their home venue. A huge amount of people have put their shoulder to the wheel to make this happen, including volunteers who gave up their time to be part of the effort, our clubs, members of the board and the local business community who were very vocal about why the game should be played here in Roscommon.
“We’re very happy that people came out to put their views on record about the importance of getting this event into the Hyde.”
