Roscommon v Tyrone, Sunday, 2pm, Dr Hyde Park
Roscommon welcome Tyrone to Dr Hyde Park on Sunday in what has the makings of an exciting encounter. Roscommon have played 2 games in the league, winning 1 and losing 1, the win coming against Monaghan last weekend, while the loss came at the hands of provincial rivals Mayo on the opening weekend. Tyrone, have made a very poor start to their campaign losing both of their games. They lost narrowly to Kerry on the opening weekend. before suffering an 11 point hammering last weekend at the hands of James Horan’s Mayo. better will be expected.
Looking at the sides Anthony Cunningham has built a very strong squad. In defence Niall Daly will be key at centre half back, along with Ronan Daily and Damian Murray. Enda Smith and Tadgh O’Rourke have built up a superb partnership in midfield as well and I can see big performances from them on Sunday. In attack then Cathal Compton, former Kerry underage player Conor Cox, Niall Kilroy and Ultan Harney will be key if Roscommon are to win. Tyrone and Mickey Harte will know a massive performance is needed, They are now staring down the barrel of relegation so a win is vital. In defence more will be needed from Ronan McNamee, Hugh Pat McGeary and Tiernan McCann. Mattie Donnelly will also need another massive performance in the middle of the park. Peter Harte, Niall Sludden and Darren McCurry in attack will also be expected to put in better performances than that against Mayo.
Looking at the betting Roscommon are 7/4 to win and Tyrone are 8/13. I expect a reaction from Tyrone this weekend and they will get the win.
