It’s not a surprise but at least three Dublin players who won the league are heading to The States to get a game.
Ciaran Reddin (St.Maurs) and Emmett O Conghaile (Lucan Sarsfields) and Shane Carthy (St Vincent’s) who all got minutes during Dublin’s Division 1 campaign earlier in the year, but did not feature in last Sunday week’s Leinster SFC quarter-final victory over Wicklow are heading abroad. They have very little chance of getting any game time so the obvious choice was to make some money and go to America.
All three are top class footballers but the level in Dublin is so high they cannot break into the matchday squad.
They could feature in most other county teams but unfortunately, 2018 wont be their year. They may be joined by Diarmuid Connolly’s who looks like he has played his last game for Dublin.
Dublin have a very easy run to the Super 8’s so Jim Gavin’s side won’t be tested in any shape or form for another month.
INTERESTING FACT – There is no player in the Dublin squad from county champions St Vincents.
