Tipperary v Donegal, Sunday, 2pm, Thurles
This is a massive game for both sides a win will drag Tipperary off the foot of the Division 2 table while a loss here would obviously mean they would be rooted to the bottom. Tipperary have played two games, losing 1 and drawing 1. The loss came to Meath on opening day and the draw was with Fermanagh last weekend. Declan Bonner’s Donegal on the other hand have been superb and sit proudly on top of the Division with 2 wins from 2 games. The wins coming against Clare and Meath respectively.
Looking at the teams Tipperary will look to players like Alan Campbell, Jimmy Feehan and Kevin Fahey in the defence, Steven O’Brien and Liam Casey will like form the midfield partnership once more for Liam Kearns’ men. In attack Michael Quinlivan is still likely to be absent from the side. So much of the score taking responsibility will fall to Conor Sweeney on the edge of the square. However, players like Liam McGrath who scored the equalising point against Fermanagh in their 2-05 to 2-05 draw last weekend, and Brian Fox will be key. Donegal come into the game again minus their Gaoth Dobhair players so there will be no McGee or Odhran MacNiallais. In addition to that they still will be without the services of the dynamic duo of Michael Murphy and Paddy McBrearty. However, they have done well without these players so far and I personally can’t see why they can’t win this at the weekend.
The odds for the game have Donegal as 4/9 an Tipperary as outsiders at odds of 5/2. The draw is 15/2. Donegal should have to much to win this in my opinion by 3 or 4 points.
