The Slaneysiders overturned a 5 point gap at the break to consign Kilkenny and Cork to a play-off next weekend.
The Cats got a dream start inside the opening 3 minutes with Liam Blanchfield finishing to the net with a volley style finish, Kilkenny did play with the stiff breeze into the Pineridge End we should state. Paul Morris knocked over a Wexford free, before Shaun Murphy and Rory O’Connor (free) had the gap at five at the break, 1-10 to 0-08.
Paidi Foley, Liam Og McGovern and Rory O’Connor all pointed to cut the gap to just two points, 1-10 to 0-11 on the resumption. Conor McDonald then had a goal chance but this went agonisingly wide. However, the home side were level on 46 minutes with Lee Chin and the O’Connor brothers combining for a score.
