Sligo’s preparations for the 2012 Football championship received a boost with the news that Eamonn O’Hara is set to return to the fold.
The midfielder looks set to embark on his 19th season of inter-county football after returning from a cruciate ligament injury in time to help his club Tourlestrane beat St Molaise Gales in the Kieran Cup final in mid-April. In an interview with the Irish Independent back in January this year, O’Hara acknowledged how difficult it can be to return from injury at the later stages of an inter-county career,
“I’ve been around long enough to know when you are able to go back and when you need to give it some time. I couldn’t afford another six to 12 months out with injury. It would be just so hard to get back at that stage. So you just have to get it right this time. I’m really hungry to get back now.”
It looks like O’Hara’s appetite for a return to county football may be sated as he looks ready to pull on the black and white shirt again in order to represent his county at the Connacht Senior Football Championship opener in the Gaelic Grounds, New York on May 6th.
