    Irish Olympic 2012 profile: Claire Bergin Athletics – Women’s 4 x 400 metres Relay

The 27-year-old from Dublin enters the Irish record books by being the first women to compete in both Winter and Summer Olympic games. In 2010 she was part of Ireland’s superb women’s bobsleigh team at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

The trainee chartered accountant was a key member of the Relay team that competed at the World Championships in Korea where they finished 12th and set a new Irish record in the process.

The last time Ireland had a women’s relay team was Sydney 2000, where they failed to qualify for the final, so chances of a medal look slim at best.
