Dublin’s minor hurlers had to dig deep to prevent Wexford from staging an unlikely comeback at Wexford Park on Saturday. The Blues held out to record a 1-18 to 3-10 win.
Dublin are now through to the provincial semi-finals as a result of this victory. They were by far the better team in the early stages and led by 0-9 to 0-1 after 13 minutes. Wexford kept battling however, and the lead was down to five by the break, 0-14 to 1-6.
Ciaran Kilkenny increased the Dublin lead from the penalty spot just after the restart following a foul on Emmet O Conghaile. However, Wexford never gave up and they rallied to draw level with ten minutes to go. Dublin just had that bit extra however, and late points from Paul Winters and Oisin O’Rourke were enough to seal the win.
