As the Official Betting Partner of the Sky Sports-televised tournament, 666Bet have branding displayed both on the stage and on each of the 32 competing players’ shirts, and have also secured the on-site betting rights at the Wolves Civic.
The Grand Slam of Darts represents the cream of the crop, as players from both the PDC and the BDO come together to do battle on the elite stage, with the tournament featuring major tournament finalists from a two-year period alongside a series of qualifiers.
Barry Martin, CEO of 666Bet.com, said: “This is another important step for 666Bet as we see darts as the perfect sport to target new customers. We are already heavily involved in football and boxing partnerships, so darts was the logical next sport for us.
“Although we are mainly targeting the UK at present, we have big ambitions to push our brand into other territories around the world and we’re delighted to be associated with such a prestigious international darts tournament.”
PDC Chairman Barry Hearn added: “It is a great pleasure to welcome 666Bet as the Official Betting Partner of this prestigious tournament. With nine days of live televised action both on Sky Sports and worldwide featuring the best players in darts, this will be a wonderful platform to showcase the 666Bet brand.”
Darts legend Phil Taylor was the inaugural Grand Slam of Darts winner back in 2007 and has since gone on to claim victory a further four times since, including with a defeat of Robert Thornton in last year’s final.
Taylor is the current 7/4 favourite with 666Bet, with current PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen – the 2012 Grand Slam of Darts runner-up – second favourite at 2/1.
Raymond van Barneveld won the tournament in 2012 and is the only non-Englishman to have been crowned champion, and is a 12/1 shot to repeat the feat, while 2009 Grand Slam of Darts champion Scott Waites is 50/1.
