Australia’s Ricky Ponting made his first test century in close to two years Wednesday in the second test against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The former captain’s last century came against Pakistan in Hobart in January 2010 where he made 209. Since then, Australia’s greatest test run scorer went 34 innings without reaching the milestone.
Recently, pressure had been growing on the Australian team selectors to replace Ponting as the team’s form slid along with that of the former skipper.
Just after lunch Australia were 3-258, with Ponting 114 not out and Michael Clarke 137 not out.
