Aisake O hAilpin has yet to commit himself to the Cork hurling squad for 2011 and there are strong rumours on leeside that the full forward may not make himself available for the coming season.
Last week, manager Denis Walsh, held meetings with a number of senior players as he tried to organise his panel for the next twelve months. Walsh informed Aisake’s older brother, Sean Og, that his services were no longer required. This came as a surprise to many within the game as O hAilpin(Sean Og) has been one of the star players in Cork hurling over the last number of years and surely had something left to offer his county. Even as an impact sub, it is believed that Sean Og should have retained his place on the panel. To date he is the only high profile omission from Walsh’s squad.
Aisake has been in Australia in recent weeks and is one of a number of players who has yet to sit down with management and commit for the new campaign. Rumours over the last number of days suggest that the younger O hAilpin is unhappy with the treatment of his older brother and is as yet undecided what role, if any, he will play in Cork’s 2011 season.
