The Dublin-based fighter is the latest Irish favourite to be added to November’s card.
Featherweight Artem Lobov has been officially announced as part of UFC Fight Night 99, set to take place at the SSE Arena Belfast, November 19th.
Lobov (12-12-1-1) was born in Russia, but has been living in Ireland for most of his life, fighting out of Straight Blast Gym Ireland. The former Ultimate Fighter finalist will take on 25-year-old Japanese featherweight Teruto Ishihara.
Speaking on the upcoming matchup, ‘The Russian Hammer’ said ‘It’s a great feeling to fight in Ireland again‘. This sentiment comes after the 145-pounder was forced to travel to Las Vegas for all three of his UFC bouts so far.
Lobov will be looking to continue his recent resurgence, after an impressive victory over Chris Avila at UFC 202.
His opponent Ishihara (9-2-2) will look to solidify his place in the featherweight division with a third straight victory when he faces off with Lobov come November 19th.
While the card may not look stacked to most fans around the world, interest in November’s fight night will be considerable amongst Irish MMA fans, with Lobov, SBG teammate Gunnar Nelson and soon to be retired Neil Seery all taking part.
The confirmed fights for UFC Fight Night 99 are as follows:
Dong Hyun Kim vs. Gunnar Nelson
Anna Elmose vs. Amanda Cooper
Ian McCall vs. Neil Seery
Ross Pearson vs. James Krause
Zak Cummings vs. Alexander Yakovlev
Kevin Lee vs. Magomed Mustafaev
Teruto Ishihara vs. Artem Lobov
Justin Ledet vs. Mark Godbeer
Timothy Johnson vs. Alexander Volkov
There will likely be three more fights added to the card to take the fight night to its standard 12-bout form.
