Munster Vs Sfc ‘A’ Final
Cork registered eight-in-a-row at the grade when easily overcoming a poor Kerry side in the Munster Vocational Schools “A” Final played under lights at Rathmore yesterday evening.
With a team featuring ten of last years All Ireland vocational schools winning side and a number of minors from the beaten All Ireland minor side, Cork had too much firepower or a Kerry side that currently have no schools playing in the ‘A’ competitions.
Padraig Boyle gave Kerry the lead in the second minute but Cork took control after that, with Stephen O’Mahony and Mark Howard completely dominant at midfield. A number of points and a two-goals in the 10th and 11th minutes from Mark Howard and corner-forward John Corkery more or less killed the game off as a contest.
Cork went in at the break leading 2-8 to 0-2, and really only played in second gear throughout the closing half as they faced little opposition from a disappointing home side. Kerry failed to score from play in the whole game, and now revert to the “B” competition.
