Darragh Kenny wins in St Tropez

Offaly's Darragh Kenny and Bablou 41, winners in St Tropez

In a second Irish Showjumping win in Europe today, following the Irish U16 Showjumpers victory in the FEI Pony Nations Cup in The Netherlands, Darragh Kenny has won the five-star 1.55m competition at the Longines Global Champions League in St Tropez, France.

Riding Bablou 41, the Offaly native was clear in 73.37 seconds to take the top prize of over €20,000. Shane Breen was also in the prize-money, finishing eighth with Ipswich van de Wolfsakker.

Tipperary man Breen paired up with American Jessica Springsteen, daughter of singer Bruce, for Miami Celtics in the Global Champions League and the pair lie in second place heading into Saturday’s second round.

Meanwhile, Ireland’s team for Friday’s three-star Nations Cup in Lisbon has been named as follows:

Trevor Breen with Bombay.

Michael Duffy and Jule Van Den Tinnenpot.

Paul Kennedy with Cartown Danger Mouse (ISH).

Anthony Condon and SFS Aristio.

Taylor Vard is Irish Chef d’Équipe for the Lisbon Nations Cup, which starts at 6.30pm Irish time with the second round under lights at 9.30pm. Ireland has been drawn first to jump of 12 participating teams.
