Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has confirmed that he is in talks regarding the possibility of a fight with Vitali Klitschko in March 2012.
Haye officially retired from boxing last month but fans always felt he would fight again if the opportunity arose for him to avenge his defeat last July by Wladimir Klitschko or take on his elder
Speaking on the BBC’s Hardtalk programme, Haye said: “I haven’t seen a contract but there’s definitely talks going on.
“I said before I retired I would love that fight and there’s a date in March that’s already been talked about.”
Haye had previously said he had only “retired from fighting anyone without the Klitschko surname”. He always felt that he did not do himself justice against Wladimir last time.
He recently told Press Association Sport: “Only time will tell whether the Klitschkos need me more than I need them.
“They won’t believe that they do but it depends what they want out of boxing. If they want guaranteed easy victories then they can do what they’ve always done but if they want a tough challenge you’d think they would want to beat down my door.”
