Tommy Brown, Dublin senior manager has named his starting fifteen for this Saturday’s Bord Gáis Energy NFL div two decider versus Meath. The Dublin boss has gone for the same line out that defeated Cavan in the NFL semi-final back in late April.
Once again Cliodhna O’Connor is named in goal and in front of the two times all Star will be Sinead Goldrick, Joanne O’Sullivan and Ailish McKenna. The half back line combination of Gemma Fay, Sorcha Furlong and Siobhan McGrath is a formidable line as all three started in last years All Ireland success with Fay and McGrath picking up All Stars at the end of last season.
Once again Dublin have named Denise Masterson and Niamh McEvoy at midfield, this midfield duo of Masterson and McEvoy have become one of the Country’s most prolific midfield partnerships and between them they provided a huge support not only to the Dublin forward line but also to the Dubs defence. Their combined work rate is a huge factor and one that is vital to Dublin’s success.
Interestingly Dublin have named a relatively young forward line only Lyndsey Davey and Elaine Kelly started in last year All Ireland final however the Dubs half forward line of the fore mentioned Davey, and Kelly along with Noelle Healy are all known ball carriers and they will look forward to the challenge of taking on the Meath half back line. Indeed this half forward line accounted for 1-04 of Dublin’s scorers against Cavan in the semi-final so the providers can also shoot too!
The full forward line up is made up of Siobhan Woods, Olivia Leonard and Amy Ring. Both Ring and Leonard were part of Dublin winning Aisling McGing team last year while woods is a member of the this year’s Dublin minor panel again this line chalked up an impressive 1-05 in the Cavan game so although lacking in big game experience all three have the potential to cause the Royal full back line some trouble.
The Dublin County Board are urging all Dublin fans to come along to Parnell Park on Saturday to show their support as Dublin take on old foes Meath, throw in time in Parnell Park is 3.30pm.
