Carlow had this game won within 30 seconds of the throw-in, left full-forward Eddie Byrne hammered the ball to the Wicklow net.
The hosts were always in control after that and cruised to a comprehensive victory.
Luke Dempsey’s side played some excellent football, with Carlow midfielder Darragh Foley putting in a man-of-the-match performance.
Wicklow were in more trouble after nine minutes when Eddie Byrne fielded a Foley pass to add a second goal. Although Carlow lost right Murtagh Ware to a straight red card on 14 minutes, the sending off failed to change the course of the game.
The hosts led by 2-7 to 0-5 at half-time and never looked in danger of losing their advantage.
