Ex Seattle player returns home

TUKWILA, Washington (AP) — Seattle Sounders have transferred midfielder Erik Friberg back to his native Sweden and top flight club Malmo.

The Sounders announced the move on Monday. General manager Adrian Hanauer said Friberg is starting a family and wanted to be closer to home.

Friberg spent one season in Seattle and started 23 regular season matches.

Before coming to Seattle, he played for Hacken and Vastra Frolunda.
