Last Instalment easily wins at Punchestown

Last Instalment was an impressive winner of the Ladbrokes Casino Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown this afternoon.

Philip Fenton’s six-year-old was sent to post the 8/11 favourite and proved far too strong for his three rivals in the 2m 6f race. Davy Russell never had a moments worry and was able to ease his mount down in the closing stages.

Fenton said: “That was just perfect. It was a great round of jumping and he takes it all in his stride.

“I’d say he will go for the (Grade One) Fort Leney at Leopardstown at Christmas next.

“We will feel our way with him and soft ground is important to him as he is a top heavy horse.

“Cheltenham would be the dream but we will see how he goes.

“With Dunguib on the sidelines it’s important to have one like him flying the flag.”

Victor Chandler and Boylesports cut the winner to 14s (from 20s) for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham in March.
