News From The UK and Ireland Poker Tour

Here is all the latest news from the UK and Ireland Poker Tour.

– Stars in line for the UKIPT Isle of Man

The inaugural visit of the UKIPT to the Isle of Man is attracting many high-profile players. The event which begins on October 31 at the Villa Marina has a £1,000 buy in and a £500,000 guaranteed prize fund. It’s the penultimate event in Season 4 of UKIPT.

Amongst those names confirmed are Daniel Negreanu (holder of five WSOP bracelets), Barry Greenstein, Jason Mercier, Liv Boeree, Isaac Haxton, Victoria Coren and Vanessa Rousso.

– UKIPT London winner Robbie Bull nets a cool £100,000+

Edinburgh’s Robbie Bull took home a huge first place prize of £113,405 at the recent UKIPT London event, his first major win. He came first out of almost 750 players at the £1,000 buy-in tournament. He also became the third Scottish player in a row to win a UKIPT title, following  Ludovic Geilich in Marbella and Alan Gold in Galway.

Bull took down the respected Irish player Ian Simpson in the heads-up. Bull is certainly establishing himself as a rising star with this win following his recent 3rd-place performance at the UKIPT Bristol Event.

Bull took his seat on the final table of eight with 1,335,000 chips, the third lowest total and way behind chip leaders Simpson (3,525,000) and Jack Salter (3,645,000). After forty minutes of play Simpson, Salter and Bull made up the final three before Salter fell by the wayside.

Simpson had one million more chips than Bull going into the showdown and seemed well on his way to claiming the top spot after a few more hands as he increased his lead to six million.

Bull was not to be vanquished though and in the final hand Bull had the Ace of Clubs and Four of Diamonds as pocket cards but was behind Simpson’s Ace of Hearts and Eight of Clubs. The situated improved no end for the Scot with two Diamonds on the flop, followed by the Ace of Diamonds on the turn and the Eight of Diamonds on the river, giving him the flush, the hand and the tournament.
