Former Irish champion jockey Ruby Walsh, who has been out of action since July, returns to the saddle this Sunday when he partners Salute Him for Tony Martin on the opening day of the Listowel festival.
The Kildare man had been expected to feature at some stage towards the end of the week long festival but has been given the all clear a few days ahead of schedule.
Walsh said: “After being passed fit by the doctor, I’ve been riding out for the past ten days or so and have been down riding out for Willie [Mullins] a few times.
“I’m all set for Sunday and looking forward to it. I’m delighted to be coming back.”
Walsh crushed a vertebra in his neck and tore a ligament when he fell from Friendly Society in a handicap hurdle at Killarney on July 12.
