So You Think won’t return to Australia

Ballydoyle’s Australian star So You Think will not be returning Down Under, as he was not among the names listed in the latest forfeit stage for the Cox Plate on October 22.

The horse who was victorious in the big race at Moonee Valley for the last two years before his transfer from Bart Cummings to Aidan O’Brien, had been a possible runner in an attempt to emulate Kingston Town’s record of three in a row.

However, with the retirement of Epsom Derby hero Pour Moi, Coolmore appear to be leaning towards an Arc bid with So You Think. The horse has won on soft ground and stays 2miles, so the 12f of the French race looks well within his range.

Meanwhile there is still some European interest in the Cox Plate with Alain de Royer-Dupre’s Americain, winner of last year’s Melbourne Cup, and Luca Cumani’s Sahara Sun, runner-up in the Chilean Derby.
