Aidan O’Brien’s exciting two year old son of Scat Daddy, Caravaggio, is among the 5 horses remaining in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh on Sunday.
The ante-post market leader for the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas, and unbeaten winner of Royal Ascot’s Coventry Stakes, is joined by his stablemate Courage Under Fire.
When asked about Caravaggio, the Ballydoyle handler stated: “He has just been continuing his routine, but it has gone well and we are pleased. He had an easy time since Ascot and has slowly built up again. We’re very happy with everything he’s doing so far.”
Ger Lyons has his Railway Stakes winner Medicine Jack in the race, while O’Brien’s son, Joseph, has Ambiguity entered in the contest, while Grand Coalition, trained by Johnny Murtagh also remains in the field.
Caravaggio is already as short as 3-1 for next season’s English 2,000 Guineas.
Aidan O’Brien is seeking his 15 victory in the last 19 runnings of the Phoenix Stakes.
