Former Republic of Ireland U21 international, Samir Carruthers has been banned from all racecourses in Britain by the British Horseracing Authority.
At the Cheltenham festival in March, Carruthers and his MK Dons teammate James Collins, were pictured appearing to relieve themselves on a balcony surrounded by racegoers.
Cheltenham Racecourse cancelled the booking that was made by a group of players for day two of the festival. Collins, now with Crawley Town and Carruthers both apologised publicly for their actions. Collins, can appeal the ban he was given after two years, while Carruthers will have to wait one year to lodge an appeal. In addition former Love Island stars, Katie Salmon and Jessica Hayes were also banned from the racecourses, with both not allowed to appeal for 3 years.
Rosie Margason a spokeswomen for the British Horseracing Authority said ‘’The British Horseracing Authority is responsible for protecting the proper conduct and good reputation of horseracing in this country’’.
She went on further to say “As a result of their behaviour at Cheltenham racecourse, the BHA applied to its disciplinary officer to have Katie Salmon, Jessica Hayes, Samir Carruthers and James Collins excluded from all licensed premises, including all racecourses in Great Britain’’.
