Davy Russell to be released from Hospital

Jockey Davy Russell said he hopes to be released from hospital on Monday after suffering a punctured lung at the Cheltenham Festival.

The rider took a crashing fall from Un Beau Matin at the final flight of the Coral Cup on Wednesday, he was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital for further treatment but on Sunday evening issued an upbeat bulletin.

Russell who missed crucial rides at Cheltenham, including that of Sir Des Champs in the Gold Cup will be eager to get back in the saddle as he aims to mount a challenge to regain his Champion Jockey crown.

He tweeted: “Great news, it looks like I will be able to leave hospital in morning – lung has fully inflated again.”
