Lancaster Bomber, winner of the Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh during Irish Guineas Weekend, will miss his engagement at Royal Ascot next week.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt, who won a well-deserved Group 1 race with his Curragh success, has sustained what his trainer called “a niggly problem with a foot”.
The Irish champion trainer has also confirmed that neither of his fillies Magical or September will run at Royal Ascot.
O’Brien has also stated that Mendelssohn, an impressive winner of the UAE Derby in March, will likely run on the dirt in the Grade 3 Dwyer Stakes at Belmont Park on 7th July before a possible tilt at the Pennsylvania Derby on 23rd September. The three-year-old son of Scat Daddy’s likely end of season target is the Breeders’ Cup Classic in October.
