There will be 8 runners lining up in the Darley Irish Oaks which takes place at the Curragh this Saturday following this morning’s final declaration of runners.
These are headed by Epsom Oaks winner Talent trained in Britain by Ralph Beckett, together with the Lady Cecil trained Ribblesdale Stakes winner Riposte and the Prix de Diane (French Oaks) runner-up Chicquita who will be ridden by Johnny Murtagh and is trained in France by Alain Royer Dupre.
Other notable contenders in the 400,000 euro Group One Classic include the Aidan O’Brien trained pair of Just Pretending and Venus De Milo and Alive Alive Oh trained by Tommy Stack.
Riposte who was supplemented for the race had been as big as 7/2 with Ireland’s largest independent bookmaker and is now battling for favouritism.
Aidan O’Brien’s supplemented Venus De Milo is now into 5/1 having been as big as 7/1 earlier in the week.
Leon Blanche, Head of Communications at Boylesports said “Our biggest liability for the race is Riposte but we have seen some support of cash for Chicquita who is now 5/1 from 12/1.”
He added “Talent was very impressive when landing the Oaks at Epsom and she is 5/2 with Boylesports to complete the famous Irish-English Oaks double.”
