Aidan O’Brien’s Winter will run in the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday, Day 1 of Longines Irish Champions Weekend, instead of the QIPCO Irish Champions Stakes on the same day.
The Ballydoyle trainer had considered running the multiple Group 1 winning filly against her stable companion Churchill in the feature race of the day as she bids to win a fifth consecutive race at the highest level.
The dual Guineas heroine will now compete against her own sex in the Matron Stakes for which 12 fillies and mares are declared.
O’Brien trains four in the race: Winter, Hydrangea, Roly Poly and Rhododendron.
Top English trainer John Gosden has declared last year’s runner-up Persuasive, who is one of three cross-channel runners, along with Hugo Palmer’s German 1,000 Guineas winner Unforgetable Filly and Charlie Appleby’s Group One winner Wuheida.
France is represented by Jean-Claude Rouget’s Qemah, third when favourite 12 months ago, while Fozzy Stack runs Diamond Fields, Tony Martin has Laganore declared for the race, Jim Bolger will be represented by Bean Feasa, and Intricately comes from the Joseph O’Brien yard.
