Accidental Agent springs suprise at Royal Ascot

Accidental Agent won the opening race at Royal Ascot on Tuesday afternoon. The race which was the first at the meeting was a Group 1 named after Queen Anne.

Accidental Agent whom is trained by Eve
Johnson Houghton was a largely considered by many as a massive outsider at 33/1 for the race which was run over a mile. However, the form was reversed. Accidental Agent was easily beaten by Rhododendron in the Lockinge Stakes last month at Newbury when only finishing sixth, with the Aidan O Brien Rhododendron finishing first ahead of Lightning Spear.

This race began with Deauville setting the pace, Charles Bishop waited patiently aboard Accidental Agent. He indeed was at the back end of the field before been pushed home by Bishop inside the last three furlongs. Rhododendron was weakening all the time and Lightning Spear looked to have a massive chance of winning the race. However, he was caught late on by the two outsiders of Accidental Agent and Lord Glitters.

Benbatl for Saeed Bin Suroor and Christophe Soumillion was the well backed favourite but failed to have any impact in the race here finishing just in 10th position.
